Notes on the 2011 Vintage
2011 was an early vintage in the Collio. The vegetative cycle was an average ten days ahead of the norm and as a result picking had already started by the last week of August.
Budding was accompanied by above average temperatures and very little rain and similarly the run in to the harvest was hot and dry. Picking took place in ideal conditions.
The feature of the vintage was the excellent state of the fruit, thanks to the hot dry summer weather. There was a drop in yields due to the smaller number of bunches per vine and also the lower than average berry weight, which was not compensated by an increase in the actual number of berries. Sugar levels are in line with the norm, while acidity is down approximately half a point.
